This is a love song about a person locked in the prison of their own mind. Because they are behind these bars they lost the love of their lives. Never able to maintain any real relationship with anyone other than themselves. It doesn't mean they don't feel love, but don't have the ability to express it like others. They are purple petals that never say a word as people pass by and smell their fragrance.
Purple petals
Well, I remember the purple petals
That you placed behind my ear
Your excuse for our first and last kiss
And the bliss of an empty field
I remember the scars from behind the bars
And the flowers you picked
While barefoot in the colored fields
Unable to yield to the colored fields
Unable to yield to the coming clouds
You didn't care
You were the rain
You always knew beyond the pain
I remember purple flowers
Dragging hours
Crowded showers
Ominous towers in my brain

Well, I remember the purple petals
That you placed inside my heart
Haunting me in the silent nights of dreaming
Holding close that I will be home again

I remember the stars from behind the bars
And the flowers you picked
While barefoot in the violet dreams
Unable to surrender to the monsters in my head
You didn't care
You were the rain
You always flew beyond the pain
I remember purple flowers
Dragging hours
Crowded showers
Ominous towers in my brain
